A handful of years ago I bought some Herman Survivor Grizzly boots, and I’d say that they were pretty good - Until day two when they began to squeak with every step. It was like that episode of SpongeBob with the black boots, and it drove me insane in short order. A second pair did the same, and I moved on to better boots. From what I could find, it appears they may have lowered material standards years ago, resulting in moisture causing noise.

Having a pair of wedge African Rangers and a pair of the barefoots, the barefoots do better on slippery surfaces.

Good boot. Wanted red wings but all their American made moc toes are soft toes. Not disappointed with the i90 wolverines. What are you folks using to clean them?

Unfortunately, I was not surprised at your findings on the Wal-Mart work boots. Basically, it's a waste of money to purchase these boots. I do appreciate the work you put into explaining why this cheaply made footwear just doesn't cut it.

To charge 300 for a pair of work boots you need to build a reputation. I read the reviews on their own web site and they have plenty of bad reviews saying these things fall apart. I really wanted to buy a USA pair of boots but no thank you

On my 2nd pair of Herman’s Survivor’s Boulder steel toe work boots in 10 years. (Which is a shorter Grizzly). I’m not a pro, but I work outside quite a bit. They are comfortable, well built, steel toe & around $60… I treat them with Sno-Seal which makes a big difference in durability. I haven’t found a need for anything else.

I've been buying and wearing the "Interceptor Guard" side zip, tactical style boots ($36.99) and I really like them. They are not "work boots", and they don't have a lot of "real leather" in them, but they are built well, light, comfortable and wearing a pair every day; they wear and look good for at least a year. The value (I think) is very good, and I have 2 brand new pairs, in my closet, waiting for service. I can easily afford to spend 100's of dollars on boots - but why should I ?

Whenever I get asked to subscribe to something it makes me want to not subscribe even more.

Read the fine print, what is hype up front is not necessarily the whole deal.
